Unfortunately, 1 in 29 school age children will be bereaved of a parent - that's around one per class. SFS understands how devastating the impact of bereavement is for the the whole family and is working with Child Bereavement UK to help our customers and their families to find the right support to rebuild their lives after the death of a parent. Child Bereavement UK supports families and educates professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement.
Project Eileen CIC is a multi-media project designed to go into secondary schools, aimed at helping young people tackle the topic of death. Mortality affects everyone at some point, but this taboo subject is largely neglected or skimmed over in schools. The story of Eileen looks at the impact of death on a group of teenagers who are about to take their GCSE exams. Combining original script, animation and music, Project Eileen wants to open up the conversation and help young people develop the necessary skills and resilience to deal with this part of life.
The Scholarship and Bursary Advisory Centre provides a unique website filled with free information and advice for parents, and others, who are looking for scholarships, bursaries, assisted places and other types of fee assistance at independent schools and colleges for children up to 18 years.
Parents can search for schools and colleges, awards, case studies, and open days, as well as benefitting from a wealth of additional resources.
By connecting parents with schools, and breaking down barriers that prevent parents approaching schools for financial help, and accepting that help, The Scholarship and Bursary Advisory Centre facilitates children from all backgrounds accessing these life-changing educational opportunities.
