Posted on 20th June 2007
Cambridge 's only co-educational boarding school has been given a positive report following a visit from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).
Assessors visiting the Leys School reserved particular praise for the quality of the relationship between students and teachers, noting that pastoral care had "improved" since the last inspection.
As a result, pupils' personal development levels are now of a "high quality", with "highly effective support" offered by house masters, house mistresses and tutors, the report showed.
The ISI's assessment, quoted by the Cambridge Evening News, reported: "Aspirations go beyond tolerance and mutual understanding to an expectation of positive relationships. It is clear the school is highly successful in fostering an atmosphere of respect for others."
"Since the last inspection it has improved to become one of the strengths and so meeting an aim of the school that pupils are understood, valued and encouraged."
Recently, the Leys School was in the news because it asked one of its pupils to leave after he posted unfavourable message about the headmaster on a social networking website.
