Exam results to be available online
Posted on 18th May 2007
Exam board Edexcel has said that all candidates sitting its GCSE and A Level papers this summer will be able to view their grades online on the morning of results day.
The board is now looking for schools to sign up to the new system, which will also provide often crucial information about grade boundaries and the option to either re-sit the paper or have it re-marked.
Pupils will also be provided with a list of numbers that will offer information and support if required.
"We are very keen for as many of our centres as possible to participate. The majority of young people are IT literate and expect most things to be available to them at the touch of a button," commented Edexcel managing director Jerry Jarvis.
"ResultsPlus is the first step of our vision of providing a complete digital learning environment for every student and teacher," Mr Jarvis added.
Edexcel has also announced that it is to use microchip tagging, similar to that found on CDs and clothes in retail outlets, in order to ensure that none of its papers are stolen or tampered with this summer.
