The University of Sheffield has recently made a number of improvements to its telephone system to allow for an expected 20 per cent expansion.
Computing showcased the academic institution in a case study this week, pointing out that a number of new unified communications improvements have been made to provide staff and students with advanced voice and data communications on its core IP network.
Mark Franklin, the universitys voice and data support manager, commented that the new changes are much more stable than the former platform.
He added that the new system will prove beneficial as the university continues to expand.
The University of Sheffield began in 1828 as the Sheffield School of Medicine and it received its university charter in 1905.
Currently, a total of 24,319 students attend the institution on undergraduate, post-graduate and part-time programmes of study.
