A Manchester-based private school has done its bit to help out the people of Haiti with a Musathon, held on January 30th.
The 12-hour programme of music involved 249 pupils from Withington School, with staff also getting involved in the fundraising.
Head of music Gillian Sargent said: "The girls were fantastic and Ive never known 12 hours fly by so quickly. The day was a memory that as a teacher, you will treasure for ever."
The performance took place between 9am and 9pm and was divided into 15-minute slots, which were filled by individual and group recitals.
It was sponsored by Altrincham music specialists H Wright Greaves despite originally being planned as a fundraiser by the Parent Teachers Association.
Withington School recently appointed a new headmistress, Sue Marks, who will be taking up her position at the start of the next academic year.
She will be the tenth headmistress to hold the post at the private school.
