One private school in the north of England is to be closed with just nine days notice, it has been revealed.
Brantwood Independent School for Girls in Nether Edge has been in operation for 108 years, but has been forced to shut after running into financial problems.
It will not re-open to staff and students after the forthcoming half-term holiday, which finishes on February 22nd.
Speaking to the BBC, John Boyington, the chairman of governors, said: "This is a bitter disappointment to all who have worked so hard over many years to add such value to the lives of many girls across Sheffield, South Yorkshire and Derbyshire."
The closure will affect 128 pupils between the ages of three and 16 in search of a new private school.
GCSE results from 2009 show that 92 per cent of all students at the school achieved passes in both English and mathematics.
