It has emerged that tens of thousands of teachers could see their pension payments cut in the future.
Following a blunder at Whitehall more than 30,000 educators have been affected, many of whom may have taught at private schools.
It is claimed many former civil servants, teachers and NHS workers were overpaid for up to 30 years and the money will be recovered from prospective payments.
In December of last year, this accounting error was first brought into the public eye when it was found 95,000 members of pension schemes had been affected.
Now HM Revenue and Customs has found another 11,700 former teachers have also received too much, acording to the Daily Telegraph.
This brings the total number of people in the education sector that has been affected to 32,000.
In May, a spokesperson for the Teachers Pension Scheme said they expect to give further details on the matter by the end of the month.
"This is a complex issue and we believe that it is important to take enough time to get the numbers right," the representative added.
