Budding engineers at Beechwood Park School have won £1,500 for their private school thanks to their design of a model car in a national competition, it has emerged.
The school near St Albans was challenged - along with a number of other education facilities across the land - to build a model vehicle using solar power or microchip technology, St Albans News relays.
Toyota's factory in Burnaston, Derbyshire, hosted the competition.
Lis Rowley, head of design and technology, said competitions such as this make people aware of the environment, how to preserve it and how to work within a team, especially "when things get tough".
"It helps the children to become confident individuals who learn a great deal about science and engineering which they will be able to use in the future," she added,
Beechwood Park School is an independent preparatory school for boys and girls aged from five to 13.
