Private schools in Wilmslow, Cheshire, appear to be fending off the effects of the economic downturn at present, it has emerged.
According to the Wilmslow Express, four independent institutions in the region have experienced increased interest despite the recession.
Some are even having to expand to cater for demand, with Pownall Park creating an extra reception class in response to "unprecedented demand", the paper reports.
Nearby private school The Ryleys is also experiencing a boom, as it prepares to become co-educational and welcome girls in September.
"We're not really suffering a downturn. I think people are maybe prioritising and education is one area they are committing to," headmaster Pat Barrett told the news source.
Other independent schools in the area, Wilmslow Prep and The King's, also reported healthy interest.
The Sevenoaks Chronicle noted last week that the recession is being defied by private schools in the area, with many reporting increasing popularity recently.
Walthamstow Hall, The New Beacon, St Michael's School and Sevenoaks School all stated that they have so far failed to feel the effects of the economic downturn.
