A pupil at a Lancashire private school has been selected for the Independent Schools Swifts American Golf Tour.
Callum Jones, a pupil at Stonyhurst College, was rated among selectors as one of the UK's best young golfers to be chosen to join the prestigious tour.
The 18-year-old will head out to the US on March 20th for the three-week tour, alongside seven other boys from independent schools around Britain.
This will include a game in North Carolina and a journey along the eastern seabord, including a visit to New York.
Despite only having played golf for about five years, Mr Jones has recently demonstrated a consistently high standard in the sport and has a handicap of five.
Noting that he is "very excited" about the trip, Mr Jones added: "I will be playing matches against American schools with boys my own age and it will be interesting to see how it compares to playing golf in the UK."
Stonyhurst is a co-educational Catholic boarding and day school for pupils aged between three and 18.
