A would-be private school pupil is taking a gap year at the age of 12 before starting term at Malvern College in September.
Already midway through his year off, Gerald Roseman was advised by the private school to take the break so that he will start his first year at Malvern aged 13 - the same age as his peers, the Daily Mail reports.
Gerald was moved forward a year by his preparatory school, which allowed him to apply for Malvern a year earlier than most children.
Accompanied by his parents, he has already visited Canada and the capitals of Europe and intends to travel to Russia, Nepal and Bhutan before his gap year finishes.
Head of Malvern College Antony Clark told the paper: "The way he is spending his year off shows tremendous initiative and entrepreneurship, which is something we encourage as part of our holistic approach to education."
Malvern College was founded in 1865 and is a co-educational school for pupils aged 13 to 18.
