The relationship between Beechen Cliff School and the Royal High School in Bath is a "fine example" of a state and independent school working together, it has been claimed.
Comparing the merits of the two institutions in southern England, the Daily Telegraph notes that many parents have children at both schools, which cater for boys and girls respectively.
Furthermore, the institutions have an "unusually cordial relationship" with eachother notes the paper, with pupils taking part in sport and extra-curricular activities together.
Private school Royal High is set in an "enviable location", states the news source, adding that a "palpable sense of optimism" is present at the school generated by the introduction of the International Baccalaureate.
Its sixth form has recently begun accepting boys, although at present only 11 have taken advantage of this offer.
At present, independent schools around the country are working hard to ensure that they meet the Charity Commission's new public benefit test, which includes ensuring that money is dedicated to bursaries and facilities are shared with others in the local community.
