An independent girls' school in the north-east has staged a musical a matter of weeks into the new term.
Pupils at Church High gave up their weekends and summer holiday time to rehearse the production of Guys & Dolls, which was performed four weeks after practice began.
Head of theatre studies at the school Ruchelle Everton explained that rehearsals usually take place over six or sevens months, but the show was put on early in the academic year so it did not interfere with preparation for exams.
"The hard work paid off and it is the best cast I have worked with," she said, adding: "The girls have been brilliant and have shown a lot of dedication putting on this complex show."
Recently girls at the school took part in a Wear Your Wellies day, raising £200 for a nearby nursery that had been damaged by flooding in Morpeth.
