A trio of twins at a private school have gained a total of 48 A and A* grades between them.
The impressive results were celebrated by the 16-year-old boys as they received their results today at Brighton College.
Fantastic grades were amassed all over the school, with 70 per cent of students achieving an A* or A grade.
Headteacher Richard Cairns attributed the success to the limiting of GCSEs to nine subjects, allowing pupils to spend time pursuing other activities.
"Our record GCSE results are testament to great teaching and tremendous hard work from pupils who also invest time and energy in the dance studio, the music school and on the playing fields," the Press Association reported him as saying.
Last week Mr Cairns suggested that rather than taking extra A-levels to stand out from the crowd, students should focus on broadening their horizons elsewhere.
