Cassie Patten has become the latest former private school pupil to win a medal at the Beijing Olympics.
The gutsy 21-year-old stormed into third place today, to collect the bronze medal for the women's 10km swimming marathon, held in open water.
Her alma mater was Plymouth College, the Independent Schools Council reports, and since finishing her education at the independent school she has gone from strength to strength with her sporting career.
According to her Team GB profile, she won silver in the same event at the 2007 world championships despite being stung by a jellyfish.
And she followed this up in 2008 when she took second place again at the 2008 open water world championships.
Private school alumni have so far claimed a host of medals at the 2008 Olympics, including former George Watson College student Chris Hoy, who has won three golds at the event.
