Pupils at an independent school in Oxford are set to get access to state-of-the-art science facilities when the new term begins in September.
St Edward's School laboratory will be equipped with technology more commonly found at universities and research centres, such as a seismometer to measure earthquakes and even its own weather station, the Oxford Mail reports.
The project has been made possible by a £50,000 grant from the Wolfson Foundation, which is involved in supporting science and technology schemes.
As St Edward's is part of the Oxford Independent State School Partnership, it will also share its new facilities with other state schools in the area, including Didcot Girl's School, Peers School and Gosford Hill School.
Andrew Trotman, warden of St Edward's, told the newspaper: "This will have a huge educational benefit not only to St Edward's pupils, but also to other schools and organisations across Oxfordshire, as part of our commitment to share facilities."
St Edward's is a co-education boarding and day school for pupils aged 13 to 18.
