Cumbrian independent school scoops catering prize

Chetwynde in Cumbria officially has the best school dinners of any independent school in the UK, having won the annual Sodexo catering competition.
The North-West Evening Mail reports that the private school, which is co-educational and takes children aged three to 18, beat 150 other schools to take the top spot.
Gone are the days of lumpy custard and unidentifiable meat - Chetwynde's head chef Cathy Goude serves up meatballs, chicken curry, fresh fruit puree and carrot and swede mash, turning out 400 meals a day to hungry pupils.
Students can also choose from a salad bar, plenty of fresh fruit and New York-style wraps.
This vast range explains why headteacher Isobel Nixon does not allow anyone to bring in packed lunches except for medical reasons, although catering manager Claire Brewer told the newspaper that there is always something for everyone,
"We always have a dish of the day, a vegetarian option, always a baked potato, always a pasta with at least one sauce, usually two," she remarked.
Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has been fronting a campaign to try and persuade other schools to bring their dinners up to the standards of Chetwynde's, to ensure that pupils get healthy and nutritional food.
