Children struggling with their weight will soon be able to join a new boarding school aimed at tackling the issue of obesity in youngsters.
Opening in the Lake District and run by US company Wellspring Academies, the independent school will welcome children and young adults aged between 11 and 18 who are nine kilograms overweight, the Guardian reports.
Describing the work of Wellspring Academies, which already runs two boarding schools in the US, president of the company and adviser to the US Department of Education Ryan Craig said: "We engage students and drive home the learning with real-world experiences.
"Students receive training in ordering in restaurants, and then we go out for lunch or dinner to see how we do."
Elsewhere in the country, parents are to be sent a letter detailing their child's weight from schools starting this September, the Independent on Sunday revealed yesterday.
