Private schools equip children with the skills necessary to achieve great success, according to a journalist.
Discussing statistics recently released suggesting that society has become more unequal, columnist for the Times Mary Ann Sieghart noted that increases in fees at Britain's independent schools have led to great improvements.
She stated that the extra money has allowed these schools to build new facilities and employ better teachers.
"Private schools give children the social skills, the networks and the academic results that pretty much guarantee them the same status that their parents have enjoyed," she commented.
Ms Sieghart also noted Sutton Trust figures that revealed Britain's top jobs are disproportionately captured by ex-private school pupils.
She called on politicians to ensure that more opportunities are available to all children across the country, with schemes such as IntoUniversity, which gives disadvantaged youngsters from inner-city London the chance to gain extra tutelage and learn about university.
The Charity Commission has recently changed its legislation with a requirement for all private schools to contribute more to the less privileged community, if they wish to retain their charitable status.
