For Student/Child
Teachers should be subject to streaming believes Martin Stephen, who has been the head of three independent schools including St Paul's where he currently resides.
Speaking in an interview with the Education Guardian, the renowned high master said that the best pupils in certain subjects should be taught by the brightest teachers in the field.
Mr Stephen also spoke of his passionate belief that private school places should be allocated according to merit and not financial capacity - he is planning to set up an extensive bursary fund at St Paul's that will allow all children to apply on a "needs-blind" basis by 2030.
The former Manchester Grammar head added: "We at St Paul's specialise in bright children. We know what switches them on and, more importantly, what switches them off."
Earlier this year St Paul's announced along with Eton College that it was to opt out of appearing in exam league tables, arguing that they misrepresent the achievements of a school.
