An independent school in Scotland is planning to expand its intake to cope with the growing demand for school places in the area.
According to the Press & Journal, Lathallan School near Johnshaven will soon welcome senior pupils for the first time.
It is hoped that increasing the intake to make room for older pupils will help cater for local parents who are concerned about a shortage of secondary places in Aberdeenshire.
Principal Andrew Giles told the paper: "We are the second school in Scotland to do something like this. The need for a senior one is a geographical one really.
"Between Aberdeen and Dundee there is nothing else and we fit that bill."
Intake at the school is expected to grow from 150 to 250 if submitted plans for an extension are approved.
The school's website notes that as part of the expansion, it wants to build a brand new sports pavilion
