Tudor fun for private school pupils
Posted on 13th May 2008
Private school pupils in Shropshire have been having fun learning about a very different way of life, Private School News has reported.
Year four pupils from Oswestry School Bellan House visited the nearby Chirk Castle where they dressed up as Tudor children and learnt about what it was like to live in 1595.
However, Oswestry School itself was founded nearly 200 years earlier than the time children were immersing themselves in and is celebrating its 600th anniversary this year.
The 600th birthday saw a host of celebrations including history lectures from some of the teachers, talks from renowned children's authors and finally a medieval combat session on horseback.
Bellan House headmistress Jackie Greatorex told Private School News: "The pupils all enjoyed their visit and were helped to understand what it was like to live in the 16th century, as well as learning more about our local history."
