ISC aiming to simplify selection
Posted on 21st January 2008
The Independent Schools Council (ISC) has launched a new service designed to simplify the process of choosing the right school.
Parents who are uncertain how to identify the most suitable independent school for their children and how the application system works will now be able to receive free impartial advice from ISC staff.
In addition to pointing families in the direction of suitable schools, specially trained ISC advisers will also be able to provide information about bursaries, scholarships and fees planning.
Sarah Tunstall, the ISC's deputy chief executive, said she is confident the expertise of the advisers would prove invaluable to parents as they make important decisions about their children's education.
"The service will certainly help to demystify the independent education sector and highlight the fact that, contrary to popular belief, it is a realistic option for many families," added Ms Tunstall.
Robert Karling, the principal of King Edward VII and Queen Mary School in Lytham St Annes, recently told the Blackpool Gazette that parents should ignore government league tables when they are selecting a private school for their child, as they do not include information about the IGCSE qualification.
