Posted on 28th December 2007
Monkton private school near Bath has awarded its catering contract to a company that uses local products.
Independent catering company Palmer & Howells will serve 800 meals a day to pre-prep, prep and senior pupils, CatererSearch said.
Sodexho had previously supplied meals to the school for almost three decades.
Palmer & Howells' Lorraine Palmer told Caterersearch : "We are delighted the have won the Monkton contract, which underpins our commitment to net purchasing, use of local suppliers and the directors' hands on approach to the business."
The contract is worth an annual turnover of £1 million and produce will be used from farms around Bath and Wiltshire.
According to CatererSearch, Monkton was founded as a senior school in 1868 by Reverend Francis Pocock, Vicar of Monkton Combe and became co-educational in 1992.
School caterers worried about the enforcement of nutritional standards from September 2008 have been assured by the Schools Food Trust that guidance will help them, CatererSearch also reported.
