University gives life confidence
Posted on 20th December 2007
Students develop a confidence and life experience at university which can be enormously helpful to them if they choose to start their own business once they graduate, an expert has commented.
Graham Nicholson, president of the Association of Graduate Careers Services, said time spent at university helps transform "under-confident" teenagers into "exuberant" adults.
Possessing the confidence to begin a business is partly down to the individual's "stage of life", he suggested.
However, Mr Nicholson continued: "For the majority of people, having three or four years of maturing time at a university does help with that confidence process."
While this news could delight parents with high aspirations for their children, it could alarm those who wish to support their offspring throughout their education.
Research published earlier this month by LV= revealed university years could be the most expensive for a parent, with average spending per child reaching more than £12,000 a year as they complete their higher education.
