Private school 'the right thing for Charlotte'
Posted on 28th November 2007
A family have spoken of their conviction that placing their child into a private school was the right thing to do.
Valerie and Garry Atterton told the Bristol Evening Post that when they first began searching for a school for their daughter Charlotte, they had considered both state and private education.
However, when they looked at local state schools, they felt the teachers were trying hard but that the facilities were not up to scratch.
The told the newspaper they had selected the local independent Colston's School, despite the £8,000 a year fees, because it presented "amazing" opportunities to pupils.
"She has come on in leaps and bounds, she absolutely loves it there. The school is so encouraging it feels like a family and it is not too big," said Mrs Atterton.
The Independent Schools Council reports that the average termly fee at one of its member day schools is £2,707 and £6,712 a term for a boarder.
