The prestigious Marlborough College has agreed a partnership with the newly launched Swindon Academy, it has been reported.
Marlborough College, which charges £20,000 a year, will share its staff, facilities and expertise with pupils from the academy ensuring its opportunities are available to all, the Swindon Advertiser has reported.
Academy principal Jan Shadick said this would broaden the horizons of pupils attending her school.
She added: "For our staff, the opportunity to share expertise with teachers from the independent sector is mutually beneficial as we are already finding in our relationship with our colleagues in the United Church Schools Trust."
Marlborough College master Nicholas Sampson said the school was a strong believer in the academies scheme.
The United Learning Trust jointly financed the academy with Honda and its chief executive Sir Ewan Harper told the Swindon Advertiser the company would bring "real-life experience" to the academy's science specialism.
The college is a co-educational boarding school which aims to be the first choice for parents seeking an "excellent, modern education".
