Student 'must-haves'
Posted on 20th August 2007
An expert has published a list of university student essentials and at the top comes a laptop.
Beth Jones made her comments in the Telegraph where she acknowledged university libraries did have computer labs, meaning students did not necessarily need to buy an expensive computer of their own.
However, she warned: "Will there also be long queues to use them? Yes. Will the libraries and the computer labs shut just as you are rushing to meet an essay deadline? Yes."
Among the lengthy list of must-have students' possessions, she also lists a printer, memory sticks, a mobile and an i-Pod.
Her list comes as the Halifax publishes its UK Student Finances Survey, which found the average student is more than £7,500 in debt.
It claimed 82 per cent of students expected to leave university with debts, usually from student loans, credit cards and overdrafts.
