'Stab-proof' uniforms on sale
Posted on 14th August 2007
School uniforms lined with Kevlar are going on sale across Britain, manufactured by company Bladerunner.
The company has previously sold hoodies lined with the knife-proof fabric which is the material used by the British forces in armoured vests.
The company boasts their clothing is "safe, protective and attractive" and announced due to "recent enquiries" they would be making blade-proof school uniforms for concerned families.
The news comes as a mother speaks out about the day her daughter was stabbed at the school gates.
The mother of fourteen-year-old Bridie Starr spoke to the Bristol Evening Post about the events which left her daughter with a scar "more than a foot long".
She says her daughter was on the operating table for four and a half hours following the attack at Filton High.
She said: "You send your child to school and you don't think for a moment that two hours later they will be stabbed."
